Warhammer / Kings of War Lizardmen

Well, two posts in one night. Aren't you all privileged?? :-D lol

Another project that I've been working on lately, on and off that is, is some Lizardmen. Primarily for Kings of War, but I wouldn't be averse to using them for earlier editions of Warhammer Fantasy.

I'm a big fan of the older plastic Saurus and Skink Warriors, and so decided to base my army around those. I do have a Slann mage as well that I picked up off Ebay already painted, but still need to glue it together, so it's not shown here

Apologies for the poor photos.

Thanks for looking

Lord of the Rings painting, part 2

Following on from an earlier post: High Elves , showing some of my LOTR High Elves, I've managed to get a few odds and ends photographed from my LOTR collection. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and other personal responsibilities, I'm having to get rid of all of my figures from the LOTR world. These are all up for sale, along with a considerable amount of unpainted miniatures, but I thought I would show some photos here before they go:

Halbarad

Prince Imrahil

King of the Dead

Aragorn

Duinhir

Beregond

Faramir

Minas Tirith Standard #1

Minas Tirith Standard #2

The Grey Company

Dwarf Captain

Sauron

Balin

Feel free to take a look at my auctions:

LOTR Dwarves

Like many of us, I anticipated I would have the time to complete a force for the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game by Games Workshop. I managed to get a few figures painted, nothing spectacular, but I have had to admit defeat and give up this particular project (I do still have Elves, Easterlings, and Moria Goblins to do, so it's no major loss really!) :-D

Anyway, just thought I'd post a couple of pictures of the ones that I did get around to painting

First up, a selection of archers. The flash made these look more orange than they actually are!!! :-O

And a small unit of Khazad Guard:

It's a shame really,  as these are really great sculpts. Some of the best from GW if you ask me. But I have just have far too much else to paint, and so they must go!

If you want to purchase any of the figures I'm getting rid of, they can be found here, on eBay:

Warhammer 3rd Edition High Elves

I've been busy trying to get some major painting completed recently, hence I haven't had time to update my blog. But here I am! :-) I've been working on my Warhammer High Elves for 3rd Edition against my mate's Empire troops. We had a 1000pt game a couple of weeks ago, which was thoroughly enjoyable, probably because I won, but primarily because 3rd edition is more fun than other versions and my buddy is a hoot to play with. Anyway, enough of the talk, and more of the pictures, so here are my High Elves so far:

(For some reason some of the pictures came out sideways and I can't work out how to change them! Doh!!!)

Army Standard Bearer:
 General and Army Standard:
 Army General:
Phoenix Guard
 Phoenix Guard Command:
 Phoenix Guard captain
 Phoenix Guard standard

So there we go, hope you enjoyed looking at them!

If you are interested in buying the Phoenix Guard, they can be found here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150843736437?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Bretonnian practice

I found an old Games Workshop Bretonnian model in one of my boxes not long ago. This has proven to be quite fortuitous really, as I have recently acquired Warhammer Fantasy 3rd edition, and I am working on an High Elf army at present, but will be concentrating on Bretonnians after that (although not using GW's figures, other than probably for Pegasus mounted commanders!!) But more of that to follow t some point.

Anyway, to take a break from the silver, white and blue of High Elves, I thought I'd have a practice on this figure I found. I don't really care for GW "telling me" how I need to paint my figures, or what livery/heraldry should be used, so I decided to use my own design (well, my mom's idea actually). I'm sure that somewhere, at some point, the same colours have been used, but I liked how they look in contrast with each other, and I think when I get to painting my Bretonnian army these will look quite effective.

So I have decided to base my army in the region of Parravon, close to the borders of the Empire and the Wood Elves, and also contains a fairly extensive mountain range, from which I'm sure there could easily be incursions by Skaven and Orcs! ;-)  My initial force will be led by Baron Bleurgh, and this will be the colour of his Town's troops:

They're not all going to be fighting like this!! lol (No idea why the picture is coming out sideways!!! But still, you get the idea! :-)

More to follow when my Elves are complete.

LOTR SBG High Elves

The complete force:

We have a mini tournament this weekend at the local Games Workshop here in Brum. I've put together a 500 point High Elf force for the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game, using the new Warband organization.

Glorfindel (Armour of Gondolin), 2 Spearmen with shield, 5 swordsmen with Elven blade:

Haldir (armour and Elf bow), 2 Galadhrim with Elf bow, 5 Galadhrim with Elven blade

Gildor, 3 High Elves with Elven bow, and 3 High Elves with Elven blade:

I'm looking forward to the tourney, as this will be my first "competitive" event, but I'm going just for the fact that I get to play LOTR: SBG! Good times!
