Joint Flintloque/Slaughterloo challenge

Hi all!

Following on from a post by my mate,  HERE, I am taking up the challenge of painting the opposing force. I tried a few different compositions for my army, and I didn't realise how tough it was actually going to be putting together a small, balanced 1000 point force!

My final decision is as follows:

Raw C-in-C
Raw General
Horse Artillery: a medium cannon with 4 crew
12 Orc Line (although I am proxying some Rifleorcs for this, until I can get some purchased [saving for a wedding and not being able to buy toys sucks! lol])
10 Orc Rifles
12 Black Watchit (there are 6 in the picture, and my mate is lending me his 6)

I was originally going to use some Krautian Guard and Strathcarnage Rats, but decided that the above woud be more fun to play. So there you go, 23 figures inc a cannon left to paint, in 73 days. I know it doesn't sound much, but with everything else I have going on, it's going to be tough to get these done. But get them done I shall! As I finish a unit, I'll get some pics posted, so please follow our progress.

Flintloque part 2

Hi all,

Following on from my first Flintloque post, I've finished painting the next batch of figures I've been working upon.

First up, a few Limited Edition Orc Characters: General Augustus Fartsagale, Foul Mouth Freddy, and a Chaplain.

 

 

 

Probably my favourite of all the races of Valon are the Joccians. Highland and Lowland rats fighting for the cause of Albion, just don't tell them that they're wearing skirts!!! :-D

General Surjon Moore, General Archirat Gordon (easily my favourite figure in the whole collection), and Captain Angus McBam. I tried to do the Stewart tartan on McBam's kilt, but unfortunately it didn't turn out that well. If I have time, I may go back to it at a later date.

 

 

 

The Catalucia starter pack also comes with Highland rats of the 42nd Blacke Watchit regiment:

 

 

 

Having requested the Lite version from Alternative Armies, there was a code for two free figures included, one of which was this Ferach officer (the other being the Orc redcoat officer in my previous post):

Also included in the Catalucia starter set are the following Ferach troops, a L'Espirit du Garde cavalry trooper and 5 Chasseurs du Garde (having taken these photos I've realised I never painted the eyes, so will need to go back over these!):

Flintloque!

A buddy of mine, Chris, over at Chris's Gaming Journal, recently decided we were going to get into gaming Flintloque. I have had a love for these miniatures since I was about 16/17, but unfortunately have never had the opportunity to start collecting them (for one reason or another) But when Chris suggested it, well, how could I refuse???

So, a couple of bids went in for a some auctions on eBay, and an order was submitted to Alternative Armies after a few emails with Gavin Syme, who was most helpful. The service from AA was impressive.

As soon as the figures arrived, I was hooked, and wanted more, and I hadn't even started painting them yet!!! The figures have real character, and a certain charm about them. I couldn't wait to get cracking.

I've always been more of a collector, than a gamer, and I can certainly see my collection growing at an exponential rate with these. Even if I do have approximately 2500 1:72 plastic figures to paint! lol

So, I thought I would share my initial paint jobs with you (my photography skills aren't the best, and the iPhone really is poor for photgraphing miniatures. My phone contract is ending soon, so hopefully I'll be able to pick up a phone with a really good camera!)

We have, a Joccian Highland rat, an Orc of the 45th, a Chasseur of the Garde, some Rifleorcs, and a few Rifleorc characters: Major Dunknowit, Captain Murkie, and Captain Fredorcson (based on the characters from the Sharpe books, Major Dunnett, Cpt Murray, and Cpt Frederickson

This should be the first of many Flintloque posts, so I hopefully I will see you soon! :-D
